These Four Seasons Bliss Balls are yummy, simple to make and they’re gluten-free. You can substitute so many ingredients like swap dates for prunes or almonds for macadamias or cranberries for almonds! They were certainly a hit for all the family – and healthy too! This recipe was included in our May ‘Seasons’ box.
Learning potential: mixing, measuring, rolling, using a food processor
½ cup dried coconut
2 tablespoons cacao powder
1 cup nuts (e.g. macadamias, almonds)
½ cup seeds (e.g. pumpkin, sunflower)
1 cup dried fruit (e.g. goji, cranberries, apricots, sultanas)
Desiccated coconut or cocoa (if desired)
1. Get your monkeys to measure all ingredients and pop everything – except the dates – into a food processor. Pulse so it stays just a little chunky, then add the dates one at a time until the mixture seems to stick together but only when pressed by hand.
2. Monkeys can now roll the mixture into balls or whatever shape they like!
3. You could drop the bliss balls into a bag of desiccated coconut or cocoa. Shake the bag to coat the balls and then refrigerate for a few hours. Enjoy!
