Once again we give you our favourite tried and tested kids books.
Here are our top 5 kids books for this month:
1. A Year on Our Farm by Penny Matthews and Andrew McLean
This fantastic picture book was included in our October ‘Farm Animals’ boxes and it is a wonderful showing of the passing of the seasons through the eyes of children who live on an Australian farm. It deservedly won the Children’s Book Council of Australia award for Book of the Year: Early Childhood.
2. The Usborne Big Book of Big Dinosaurs
This one is great for older monkeys as it’s full of super interesting facts about dinosaurs. Watch the expression on your little monkey’s face when you explain that Diplodocus was 45m long – that’s as long as five buses parked end to end!
3. John Brown, Rose and the Midnight Cat by Jenny Wagner & Ron Brooks
We love classic children’s books! This one about Rose, her dog John Brown and the mysterious midnight cat is an award-winning story and is a favourite with my monkeys!
4. Roaring Rockets by Tony Mitton and Ant Parker
We included this wonderful book in our November ‘Space’ boxes. With astronauts and their cool, white suits, oxygen helmets, gravity boots, and of course, roaring rockets, we’d say this book is out of this world!
5. The Twelve Cats of Christmas by Kevin Whitlark
A twist on the traditional Christmas song Twelve Days of Christmas, this is one fun sing along! Even if your monkeys don’t know the original, they’ll love spotting the cats (there are many more than 12!) and, of course, the fat mouse in a fur tree.
