We loved putting together our May ‘Seasons’ box and we hope that your little ones loved did too! With it being so unseasonably warm for May, it was tricky to teach my monkey about Autumn but thankfully the leaves knew to drop off the trees so we got around it! This month it was all about teaching them the difference between the four seasons and having fun with it as well.
Each month we feature a different unisex theme aimed at ages 3-7. The Seasons box included:
Make Your Own Snow Dome Photo Frames by 4M: Time needed for this one is 15 minutes. They were fun and easy to make. Each box makes 2 x snow domes and your monkeys can choose which frame they would like for their picture. The monkeys helped by cutting the photo to fit, tearing off their template and filling up their snow dome with water and glitter. Voila – easy, fun and creative snow domes!
Tube Kite by Tigertribe: A perfect and fun way to teach your monkeys about the wind is with a kite! The great thing about this is that the whole family can have a turn and you can take it to the park or on a picnic. The kites were quick to assemble and came in pink, blue or orange.
The ABC Book of Seasons by Helen Martin, Judith Simpson and Cheryl Orsini: We decided to do a board book this month for both our younger subscribers and the younger siblings. This is a great book as all the writers are wonderful and Helen Martin is an award-winning writer and director who has worked on Play School and Hi-5. The text introduces children to the concept of weather and its changing patterns. Beautifully illustrated, this is the perfect book to share with young children to inspire a delight in nature and its cycles.
Weather and Seasons – Getting dressed sticker book by Usborne: Usborne again have done such a great book! The monkeys choose the appropriate clothes for the season and dress each of the children accordingly. This is a great one to take to a cafe, travelling or just to do at home.
COOK & TRY
Gluten-free Four Seasons Bliss Balls: These are yummy and simple to make. You can substitute so many ingredients like swap dates for prunes or almonds for macadamias or cranberries for almonds! They were certainly a hit for all the family – and healthy too! Monkeys learn to mix, measure, roll and safely use a food processor.
Mini Paint Set by Educational Vantage: Just a fun little bonus set for the kids to play with.
House and Rainbow Stamps by Tigertribe: Kids love stamps and this is spongy and big enough for all little monkeys to use.
